Care Of Your New Bonsai

BONSAI CARE
Your newly purchased Bonsai tree
from

Bonsai of Napa Valley

may grow for 100's of years!
Follow these simple instuctions.

All plants would rather grow outside than inside and in the ground not in a pot.
With these simple instructions your BONSAI will grow fine indoors.

INDOOR CARE
1-Once per week:
· Place Bonsai in full sun (inside or outside).
· Place Bonsai in a bucket, a pot, plastic tub (whatever size makes it happen).
· Careful not to put any pressure on the branches; this might create air pockets in soil which will cause some roots to dry out and die.
· Fill tub with water just below the soil level.
· Let Bonsai sit in this water for several hours, over night or all day is fine.
· Remove Bonsai and let it drain thoroughly until it leaks no more.
· Don’t ruin your furniture; always place Bonsai on a basin to catch ALL moisture.

2-Fertilizing
Once in spring and once in summer or
once per month during growing season.
Follow instructions on any common fertilizer:
How much to use on what size plant.
I like liquid indoor plant food best.

3-Pruning
(You will greatly benefit from the complete "How to Bonsai" book soon to be available on the home page of this blog.)
Once per year (in the spring) you may remove 1/3 of the branches and root growth.
You may also pick off a branch, a twig or a leaf any time you want. This type of care can create or maintain the special look you desire.

OUTDOOR CARE
Potted plants like a little shade in the heat of the day but will handle all day sun and heat with proper care:
WATER and FERTILIZE same as above but add a little water from top of soil (not in bucket)once or twice per week .

Follow these simple instructions and you may enjoy the Art of Bonsai for a lifetime.
